(Oshkosh, Wis.) — Affinity Health System and Ministry Health Care are pleased to welcome Monica Jacobus, MD, to Mercy Medical Center’s general surgery department. She will be providing care at 500 S. Oakwood Road in Oshkosh.
A general surgeon, Dr. Jacobus performs endocrine (thyroid and parathyroid) surgery, breast surgery and minimally invasive surgery using laparoscopy. She also uses robotic surgery to perform hernia repairs, as well as gallbladder and colon surgeries.
Dr. Jacobus completed medical residencies in general surgery at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan and Metropolitan Group Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois. She received her medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri. Dr. Jacobus earned her bachelor’s degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
"I am humbled by the opportunity to impact a person’s health," said Dr. Jacobus. "I believe surgical care is more than simply fixing a specific problem; I believe in treating the whole person. I frequently address diseases which can be fixed and cured completely. It’s very satisfying to have a positive and immediate effect on a person’s life."
"In my life, people come first," said Dr. Jacobus. "It’s my obligation to my patients and colleagues. It gives me direction and keeps me motivated."
When not in the office, Dr. Jacobus enjoys reading, swimming, running and hiking outdoors. These activities allow her to think and reflect so she can provide the best care for her patients.
