AMBASSADOR FOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED PROGRAM: [D/AM]
Volunteer assists the physical therapy staff by providing encouragement and support to members of the physically challenged program.  

BREAST CENTER AIDE: [D/F]
Volunteer assists the Breast Center staff with day-to-day tasks and to create a warm and pleasant environment for our patients.

CANCER RESOURCE CENTER [F]
Volunteer supports cancer patients by organizing the cancer resource supplies.

CHART COVER CLEANING: [D]
Volunteers clean patient chart covers.

CHILDREN'S SCREENING SERVICES [F]
Volunteers provide vision screenings and hand washing education to Oshkosh area preschool, parochial school and daycare children. There is an annual membership fee of $10.

CLEANING ATTENDANT [D]
Volunteers wipe handrails with disinfectant or provide other basic cleaning services.

CLERICAL/COMPUTER ENTRY VOLUNTEERS [F]
Volunteers provide clerical assistance to staff that may include filing records, assisting with mailings, stocking office supplies, photocopying, and other duties as requested. The different areas of MMC that currently utilize clerical volunteers include, AMG Cardiology , AMG Pulmonology, Associate Health, Behavioral Health Outpatient, Breast Center , Cardiac Rehab, Cardiorespiratory, Case Management, Food Service, Foundation, Infection/Prevention, Medical Staff Services, Palliative Care, Patient Care Unit 1, Rehabilitation, Service Excellence, Spiritual Services and Volunteer Services.

COMMUNICATIONS  ASSISTANT [D/F]
Volunteers provide support for the communications staff in updating the micro call and voicemail systems.

COUNSELOR ASSISTANT [F]
Volunteers support behavioral health outpatient counselors in preparation for and during Group Therapy meetings for persons recovering from drug addiction.
CRAFT PROJECTS [Group meets Wednesdays 8-11AM or projects can be done at home.]
Volunteers create crafts, knit or sew items for sale in the Gift Shop for special events, or to be given as gifts to newborns/patients/families. Different areas include caps and lapquilts for cancer patients, Happy Flowers, hats and layettes for newborns, Tray Favors and other projects.
EMERGENCY ROOM [F]
Volunteers assist Emergency department staff, patients and visitors with a variety of duties to enhance the customer service in Emergency Services.
ENTERTAINER/ENCOURAGER [F]
Volunteers provide opportunities for patient expression, participation and social reintegration.
ERRANDS [D (4-6PM)/W (10AM-2PM)]
Volunteers deliver supplies and equipment to and from nursing units, ancillary departments and support services. Volunteers provide wheelchair transport of patients from unit discharge to car at entrance of the hospital. Duties also include the pick up and delivery of late food trays from the Serving Kitchen. Mailings and other projects may be requested by staff as needed. Volunteers assist visitors with patient information, directions, and delivery of mail/flowers as needed. (This position is especially good for students, teens, and those who want the opportunity to observe health care professionals)
EUCHARISTIC MINISTER/MASS ASSISTANT [F]
Volunteers distribute the Sacrament of the Eucharist to patients, as assigned by the spiritual services staff. Volunteers also assist with church services when requested.
FIELD STUDENT  [F]
Student volunteers interact with prospective volunteers, assist with routine office procedures, possibly work on a special committee planning, evaluating and re-engineer a volunteer assignment or process within the Volunteer Services department  or Patient Access Department.

FOOD SERVICE AIDE[F]
Provide task specific assistance to the food service department

FUNDRAISING [F]
Be involved with variety of fundraising activities to generate charitable funds to enhance Mercy Medical Center patient care & improve our community health status.

GIFT SHOP [D (9AM-1PM/1-5PM/5-8PM) Sat/Sun (Noon-3PM)]
Volunteers greet customers, handle sales via money/checks/credit cards, replenish the candy supply, deliver gifts or flowers to patients, and dust or straighten as needed.
INFORMATION DESK [D 8AM-Noon or Noon-4PM]
Volunteers greet and provide information to visitors and Mercy patients. Duties include answering information phone, sorting and delivering mail, delivering flowers, providing wheelchair transport when needed, and keeping the lobby area tidy.

I.V. INFUSION THERAPY  [D/AM]
Volunteers greet and provide customer service to I.V. infusion therapy patients. Provide clerical support to IV infusion therapy staff.

LIBRARY SERVICES [D/F]
Volunteers assist library personnel with routine filing, shelving of library materials and photocopying.
MAGAZINES [F/weekly]
Volunteers sort,label and distribute new magazines and brochures and recycle old to provide current reading materials and information to visitors and patients in designated areas throughout the hospital.
MERCY OAKWOOD DESK [D 8AM-Noon or Noon-4PM]
Volunteers greet and provide information to visitors and patients. Duties include answering desk telephone, providing wheelchair assist when needed and keeping the lobby area tidy.
MUSIC MINISTRY [D/EVE/W]
Volunteers provide patients with spiritual enrichment through music. Individual and/or small groups welcome. Music enrichment may be provided on an individual or small group of patients or in a church service setting.

OUTDOOR BEAUTIFICATION: [D/F]
Provide assistance with routine weeding, picking up debris and gardening near the main entrances of the building and on the parking lot islands.

OUTPATIENT PROCEDURES AREA: [D/F]
Volunteers assist office staff with office procedures and collate information for patient charts.

OUTPATIENT TESTING [D / 7:30-11:30AM / 1-5PM Tue, Wed or Thu]
Volunteers assist Outpatient Services reception staff with various duties, such as assisting patients in gowning (men and women) for tests and escorting patients to the location of their procedure.

PATIENT PORTAL ASSISTANT: [D/F]
Volunteers assist patients in enrolling into the Hospital Electronic Medical Health Record (patient portal). Educate and demonstrate to patients and/or family who are available and interested in learning how to sign into the patient portal.

PATIENT ACCESS - ER RECEPTION  [4-8PM Weekdays/11AM-2PM, 2-5PM & 5-8PM W] 
Volunteer duties include greeting, giving information/directions to visitors, registering patients, escorting patients to outpatient waiting areas, to their rooms or to emergency. Various office duties include answering phones, filing, etc.

P.E.A.C.E. PROGRAM [D/AM]
Volunteers supplement the rehab staff by with the P.E.A.C.E. (People Exercising After Cancer Enters) exercise program.
PET THERAPY [D/EVE/W/F]
Volunteers with dogs conforming to the standards set forth by Therapy Dogs Incorporated, provide an opportunity for patients, staff and visitors to experience the socialization, entertainment and other benefits that contact with an animal may have, and specific to each patient's needs and interests.
PHARMACY [D/AM/PM or EVE]
Volunteers provide support to pharmacy staff while gaining knowledge and experience in a pharmacy. Duties include receiving drug orders, identifying orders, prioritizing and relaying orders to pharmacist for processing, assisting with clerical functions, and other duties under supervision.
POTTED PLANT MAINTENANCE [D/F]
The Volunteers duties in this area involve watering, fertilizing, polishing, possible insecticide application, pruning, dusting and re-potting of Mercy’s plants in main public areas.  The time frame for this position is flexible and would require about 4 hours per week.
RECEPTION DESK [D / 8AM-Noon or Noon-4PM]
Volunteer duties include greeting, giving information/directions to visitors, registering patients, escorting patients to outpatient waiting areas, to their rooms, or to emergency. Various office duties, e.g. answering phones, filing.
SHORT TERM PROJECTS [F]
Volunteer for a one-time event or shorter term project such as a Mercy Health Foundation event or a collating and mailing project.
SUPPLIES CHECK [F]
Check and replenish supplies in classrooms, conference rooms and other areas.
SURGERY and PROCEDURES ESCORT [D/AM]
Volunteers assist the surgical staff by escorting patients and family to procedure areas.
TOUR GUIDE [F]
Volunteers conduct tours for groups of children or other guests throughout the hospital.
TRANSPORT SERVICE [D/ D/8AM-Noon or Noon-4PM]
Volunteers deliver supplies and equipment to and from nursing units, ancillary departments and support services. Volunteers provide wheelchair transport of patients from unit of discharge to car at hospital entrance. Duties also include pick-up and delivery of meal trays from the serving kitchen, running errands, mailings and other projects as requested.
UNIT VOLUNTEER  [D/E/F]
Volunteers provide light clerical duties and provide general assistance including assisting nursing staff with non-medical aspects of care in the areas of Birthplace, Behavioral Health and Patient Care Unit 1 (Orthopedic and Rehab). Specific requirements may apply.
