At Affinity Health System, specially-trained registered nurses, exercise physiologists and registered respiratory therapists provide the expert rehabilitation care you need.
Rehabilitation begins soon after a heart attack, cardiac surgery or other heart health event. Since heart disease can be managed but never cured, patients need to lower their risk factors. We offer three stages of cardiac rehabilitation at several locations in the Fox Cities and Oshkosh, combining education, exercise and emotional support to help with your recovery.
1. The inpatient stage involves introducing gentle activity very soon after surgery. We also focus on patient education and providing support for the emotional impact surrounding a heart attack or other heart health issue.
2. Next, the outpatient program starts within a week of returning home from the hospital and lasts six to eight weeks. It focuses on exercise and addressing risk factors for heart disease. The goal is to prevent future heart attacks and improve quality of life.
3. Third, our health and fitness program offers ongoing support from staff and use of our exercise facilities.
