Your Baby’s Arrival
Upon your admission to BirthPlace, one nurse helps care for you and your baby during the birth. After your baby’s birth, the nurse will answer questions, help you with breastfeeding or bottle feeding and talk with you about how to take care of your baby and yourself when you get home.
We offer closed-circuit television with programming on bathing an infant, choosing a car seat, breast and bottle feeding, and self care after the baby is born. You can check the program schedule and watch at your convenience. Plus, BirthPlace has specially-trained nurses to help you with breastfeeding.
Sometimes your physician may require your baby to stay in the hospital for an extra day or two. If this happens, we can help arrange overnight lodging.
Visitors to BirthPlace - Dads and siblings are welcome to visit at any time. Others may visit between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Your Baby's Social Security Number - With your approval, we will complete the necessary paperwork for obtaining your baby’s Social Security number. Our electronic filing method saves time and you will receive a number soon after returning home. This service is recommended and free of charge.
Car seat options - Every newborn leaving the hospital must be in an infant car seat. Be sure to ask the nursing professionals at Affinity NurseDirect or BirthPlace for information about infant car seats approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
