At St. Elizabeth Hospital and Mercy Medical Center, we help you plan not just for childbirth, but parenting, too.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! You might be feeling excited, nervous, or overwhelmed at the idea of welcoming a baby into your world. We understand, and we’re here to help guide you through the journey. Preparing for your baby involves a full spectrum of care beginning in pregnancy and continued seamlessly through labor and delivery, baby’s first year and beyond.
Our skilled and compassionate obstetricians and certified nurse midwives care for expectant moms at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, and our Medical Home clinics throughout the Fox Valley. Our pregnancy caregivers get to know you, listen to your concerns, and welcome all your questions. We offer the latest advancements in prenatal care, including 3-D/4-D ultrasound and genetic counseling, to ensure you and your baby receive the care you need.
Labor and Delivery
At Mercy Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Hospital, we invite you to create a memorable birth story. Our labor and delivery team supports a variety of options for your childbirth experience in our modern BirthPlace facilities designed for exceptional comfort and care.
But before you get there, we want you to learn as much as possible about what to expect during and after childbirth. That’s why we offer a variety of childbirth education classes, including childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, infant care and more. To see a full list of classes and to register, click here.
Neonatal Intensive Care
When things don’t go as planned, you want the security of knowing your baby will receive top-notch care as quickly as possible. St. Elizabeth Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) offers that peace of mind, with three board-certified neonatologists and a team of specially trained nurses and therapists working around the clock to tend to your newborn baby’s every need.
Pediatric and Family Care
As soon as your baby arrives, she’s going to need a doctor of her own. Affinity Medical Group offers a large selection of compassionate pediatricians and family practitioners who are ready and waiting to care for your baby from the very first day.
At our BirthPlace units in St. Elizabeth Hospital and Mercy Medical Center, a pediatrician will evaluate your baby shortly after birth to make sure she is healthy and strong, and to get her the care she needs if any concerns arise. Then before you leave the hospital, your childbirth care team will arrange your baby’s first visit with the provider of your choice, which is usually scheduled within the first week after you and your baby go home.
