Our whole-person approach helps you address the physical and emotional issues that accompany lung problems.
Lung problems don’t have to keep you from living life to the fullest. Inpatient and outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation through Affinity Health System helps patients in Northeast Wisconsin with pulmonary disease improve their well-being and quality of life. Pulmonary rehabilitation will help you deal with the physical, psychological and social aspects of pulmonary problems.
Services We Provide
Pulmonary rehabilitation provides supervised exercise training, respiratory care instructions, smoking cessation programs, nutritional counseling, psychosocial support and oxygen therapy education to patients of all ages who have or are at risk for pulmonary disease.
Our specially-trained registered nurses, exercise physiologists and registered respiratory therapists will show you how proper exercise, nutrition and breathing can help control pulmonary disease symptoms such as shortness of breath and anxiety. We personalize treatments to match each patient’s lifestyle and cultural circumstances.
Our patients have better control of their physical symptoms, which allows them to enjoy a higher level of independence and physical activity. We offer education on how to prevent respiratory infections and other events that could otherwise result in hospitalization.
Inpatient and Outpatient Programs
Both inpatient and outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation programs begin with an assessment to help identify your needs and rehabilitation goals. After the assessment, the rehabilitation staff develops a care plan just for you. Your treatment plan may include exercise, education, counseling and other support services. Affinity experts will be with you every step of the way, modifying your plan as necessary.
Your pulmonary rehabilitation program ends when you achieve your rehabilitation goals or your doctor decides those goals are no longer appropriate. After you finish the program, we’ll help you find follow-up programs and community resources, if needed.
Health and Fitness Program
The Health and Fitness program offers ongoing staff support and continued exercise at an Affinity facility to patients who have completed our inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation program, or whose doctor feels they could benefit from a maintenance program.
