Affinity’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Joint Camp provides people with a unique opportunity to prepare their bodies and their minds for an upcoming joint replacement.
Our orthopedic surgical team can perform the surgery to return you to an active and pain-free lifestyle as soon as possible, but we only have part of the responsibility. For that goal to become a reality, the joint replacement candidate needs to engage in the treatment, recovery and rehabilitation process, too.
Joint replacement candidates receive special instructions.
If you have been selected as a joint replacement candidate, you will receive a comprehensive joint surgery guide that provides all the details for your joint replacement program. During Joint Camp, the orthopedic staff will review the procedure, answer your questions, and help you build relationships with other people who are going through the same experience.
During your attendance at Affinity’s half-day joint seminar, you will learn about:
The surgical procedure
The importance of following activity restrictions after surgery
Post-surgical pain and movement expectations
Post-surgical therapy sessions
Rehabilitative group activities
Preparing for your joint replacement physically and emotionally helps speed your recovery.
You should bring a guest to Joint Camp.
It’s a good idea to bring a friend or family member who can act as your support coach as you go through the joint replacement process. This person should accompany you to training, be on hand during your surgery, and work with you during your recovery and rehabilitation.
