Mercy Health Foundation 2010 projects
New Heart Cardiac Catheterization Lab $120,000
Philanthropy helped make it possible to replace the aging heart catheterization lab at Mercy Medical Center with all new equipment that enhances clarity for cardiologists during heart catheterization procedures.
64-slice CT Scanner $130,000
This advanced equipment will provide faster, clearer images for diagnosis which is particularly important for stroke and trauma victims when every second counts.
New Angiography Suite $120,000
The existing equipment in the angiography suite is 15 years old, making it difficult to get spare parts when something malfunctions. It is used for an array of procedures, most of which involve placing a stent or catheter into blocked blood vessels throughout the body.
Fitness for the Physically Challenged Program $17,933
A certified exercise instructor provides personalized programs for people with physically debilitating diseases through the Mercy outpatient rehab gym.
Living Healthy Community Clinic $100,000
An important community collaboration that delivers primary medical care to low income, uninsured Southern Winnebago County residents.
Tri County Community Dental Clinic $25,000
The TCCDC serves low income Winnebago, Outagamie and Calumet County residents. Approximately 16 percent of patients seen are from Southern Winnebago County and benefit from this grant.
CO2 Monitors $15,750
Three End-tidal CO2 monitors were purchased to monitor post-operative, high risk patients. CO2 levels are a more accurate and earlier indicator of respiratory depression/decreased respiratory rate than oxygen levels.
Hearing Loops $4,400
This grant covered the cost of installing hearing loops in Conference Rooms A & B at Mercy Medical Center Hearing loops deliver broadcast sound directly to the hearing aids of hearing impaired individuals, making easer for them to hear clearly even when there is a background noise in the room.
Program in Radiologic Technology $12,000
Supports replacement of clinical lab/mock-up x-ray equipment for training radiologic technology students at Mercy Medical Center.
Room Service at Mercy Medical Center $150,000
This grant will be distributed over three years to cover part of the cost of remodeling and computerizing the Food Services Department to offer a room service model of food delivery to patients.
Tobacco Education, Cessation, and Policy Success $27,750
A new comprehensive smoking cessation program that will be offered to Affinity Southern Region employees and their families without cost through Affinity Occupational Health Services.
Exercise Equipment $19,827
Funding will allow the Outpatient Rehabilitation Department and the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department to purchase six new pieces of exercise equipment to enhance services for patients and participants in the Fitness for the Physically Challenged program.
