William Calhoun
Eastern Region Vice President, Ministry Health Care; President, Mercy Medical Center
William (Bill) J. Calhoun, FACHE, is the Eastern Region Vice President of Ministry Health Care. Calhoun also serves as president of Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.
Calhoun became president of Mercy Medical Center in August 2007 and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the 172-bed hospital. Mercy Medical Center provides total health care to the greater Oshkosh region, including: emergency/trauma care and surgical services, cardiology, oncology, behavioral health, orthopaedics, intensive care, obstetrics and neurosurgery.
Calhoun has 20 years of experience in health care administration. Prior to joining Affinity Health System, he served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle, Maine, and worked as the vice president of ancillary & support services for Howard Young Health Care in Woodruff, Wisconsin. Howard Young is an affiliate of Ministry Health Care, Milwaukee, which is one of two Affinity Health System sponsors.
A Wisconsin native, Calhoun earned his bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
Calhoun recently won the 2011 Best of the Best Administrative Award, presented by the Partners of WHA, Inc. In addition, he was recently elected to serve as Wisconsin's representative on the Council of Regents, the legislative body of the American College of Healthcare Executives. His term will begin in March 2013.
