Dr. Charles William Oviatt - Student Version
Dr. Charles William Oviatt was the best doctor in Oshkosh. He started working at St. Mary's Hospital in 1894. Many more doctors came to work at the hospital because they looked up to Dr. Oviatt.
Dr. Oviatt did some things other doctors could not do. He did surgery on eyes to remove cataracts. He also did surgery on an 8-year-old girl from Fond du Lac. At that time, most doctors did not do surgery on children.
Dr. Oviatt helped St. Mary's Hospital get better. He spent his own money to buy new tools for the doctors.
Dr. Oviatt was very kind and humble. He was also very smart. He won many awards. He was in a special club called the Society of Clinical Surgery. This club was for the best doctors. He was invited to join the club because he discovered new ways of doing surgery.
