Volunteer Spotlight: Zachary Heimark
Meet one of our exceptional volunteers.
By Corrie Haak, student intern
This volunteer spotlight recognizes 16-year-old Zachary Heimark. Zach has been volunteering at Mercy since June of 2012, with over a hundred hours of service. This past October, Zach was awarded an Assisting Clinical Excellence Award (ACE) at Mercy Medical Center. The ACE Award identifies one individual from an ancillary department who has assisted a clinical department in achieving the top 10 percent in a monthly patient satisfaction survey.
Zach was inspired to begin volunteering because he plans on working in the medical field in the future. When Zach is not volunteering, he enjoys trap shooting. He is also a member of the Oshkosh West Honor’s Society and Symphony Orchestra.
Zach was nominated by the Patient Care Unit 1 of Mercy Medical center for his ability to learn quickly, work hard, and exhibit genuine dedication. His natural helping hand and level of responsibility has everyone looking forward to his arrival on Thursday nights.
The Patient Care Unit 1 stated that “Zachary is an amazing young man who has caught on to the routine on PCU-1 and really gets what needs to be done. Zach gives us his all when he is here and never complains about the crazy lists of things we ask him to do. Thank you for all that you do!”
