Joint Replacement
If your arthritis pain makes the simple act of walking nearly impossible, a total hip or knee replacement may be the right solution for you. You and your doctor may find joint replacement is the best method for treating your pain and movement loss due to arthritis or other conditions.
The orthopaedic surgeons at Affinity Health System are expertly trained and experienced in diagnosing and treating bone and joint disorders. They have performed thousands of joint replacement procedures, helping patients – just like you – return to a normal life.
Affinity Joint Camp
We believe the joint replacement experience should be one of healing and wellness. The fact is, you’re not sick – you just have a worn out joint! To help fulfill this promise, we’ve created the Affinity Joint Camp. Our goal: return you to an active, pain-free lifestyle as quickly as possible, and actively engage you in your own treatment and recovery.
The Joint Camp experience starts well before surgery. First, we give you a comprehensive guide to joint replacement surgery – what to expect and how to best manage your recovery. At our half-day learning session, you’ll meet other Joint Camp participants and receive group education and personally tailored instruction to prepare for your surgery. Your emotional and psychological preparation for joint replacement will help speed recovery and get you back to life faster.
It’s good to have a friend on this journey as well. We encourage you to choose a friend or family member who can act as a coach as you go through the joint replacement process, from training through recovery.
During your hospital stay, Affinity’s orthopaedic specialists provide you with exceptional care so you quickly regain strength and movement. Our team of orthopaedic surgeons, nurses, physician assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists and case managers are dedicated solely to your personalized care.
The Road Home
Your rehabilitation includes individual therapy sessions and group activities. Your coach is encouraged to participate in the hospital rehabilitation process so he or she has a better idea of how to help you at home. Other Joint Camp patients may or may not undergo the same procedure as you, but together you can participate in education sessions, eat and socialize together, cheer each other on during rehabilitation and recover together.
We’ve also created an environment tailored just for you, with rooms dedicated to our joint replacement patients, a group meeting and dining room, and rehabilitation services close by. To add to your comfort, we encourage you to bring and wear your own, comfortable clothes, and to have your coach nearby as you recover.
We look forward to making your Affinity Joint Camp an exceptional experience – and a speedy return to your life.
