MENASHA, Wis. – Affinity Health System and Humana announced today the signing of a contract under which Affinity will continue to provide health care services to people enrolled in Humana commercial PPO health insurance plans that use the company’s national PPO network, called the ChoiceCare Network.
The agreement, effective Jan. 1, 2007, covers Calumet Medical Center in Chilton, Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, St.
Affinity Health System has participated in Humana’s ChoiceCare Network since 2002. Humana serves nearly 400,000 health plan members in Wisconsin, with nearly 200,000 of them using the ChoiceCare Network.
“At Affinity, we value our longstanding relationship with Humana and the ChoiceCare Network,” said Daniel E. Neufelder, Affinity president and chief executive officer. “Many Humana members selected Affinity physicians four years ago. They’ve grown to trust us and we’ve helped their families through many life changes. This contract is critical to us because we can continue to care for those who depend on us.”
“We at Humana understand the importance of the ongoing, long-term relationships patients have with their health care providers,” said Larry Rambo, chief executive officer of Humana’s Michigan and Wisconsin markets. “This agreement further enhances Humana’s already strong position in the Fox Valley and provides continued access to Affinity physicians and facilities as well as lasting peace of mind for Humana’s members.”
Terms of the agreement, between Affinity Health System and Health Value Management Inc. (dba ChoiceCare Network), a subsidiary of Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), were not disclosed.
