St. Elizabeth Hospital Laboratory benefits from Kolosso donation

Car dealership donates Rav4 to St. Elizabeth Hospital Community Foundation

APPLETON, Wis. –  Employees of the St. Elizabeth Laboratory are constantly on the move, needing to run specimens and lab work to and from local nursing homes. Thanks to the generosity and support of Kolosso Toyota in Appleton, employees have been making those runs in style.

Joan Kolosso, a long-time supporter and volunteer of St. Elizabeth Hospital, and her late husband, Bob, donated the first vehicle to the St. Elizabeth Hospital Community Foundation and the lab in 1988. And on Jan. 5, Cecelia Landin, director of laboratory for Affinity Health System, received the keys to the newest vehicle—a 2007 Toyota Rav4 from the Kolosso family—Joan and her children Bill, Barbara and Peter.

The St. Elizabeth Hospital Community Foundation is happy to work with donors to match their interests with hospital needs, said Barbara Stack, executive director of the foundation.

“We wanted to help the hospital so we asked what the needs were,” said Joan Kolosso, who has been a member of the St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary since the 1950s. “We’re happy to help.”

Landin says the donated vehicles are a big help for the lab. “While we only travel in a five-mile radius of the hospital, we are constantly making runs, and while many employees still need to use their own car, this gift is greatly appreciated,” Landin says.

The St. Elizabeth Hospital Community Foundation is dedicated to living out the healing ministry of Christ with a special emphasis on those in need, by generating, stewarding and distributing funds to enhance the quality of Affinity Health System’s services and programs, and other community health care initiatives in Outagamie and Calumet counties, and northern Winnebago County.
