APPLETON, Wis.— Affinity Medical Group’s Regional Administrator for Specialty Care Michael Drees recently earned the professional designation of Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) from the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE). ACMPE is the standard-setting and certification division of MGMA-ACMPE.

The designation of CMPE demonstrates that Drees has achieved board certification in medical practice management. To do so, he had to pass objective examinations that assessed his knowledge of business operations, financial management, human resource management, information management, organizational governance, patient care systems, quality management and risk management. Drees also had to earn a minimum of 50 continuing education credit hours as part of his certification.

Today, 6,600 MGMA-ACMPE members are participating in ACMPE board certification and Fellowship; 600 have achieved the Fellow credential, 2,200 have achieved the CMPE credential and 3,800 are pursuing board certification.

Drees joined the Ministry Health Care system in 1983 and later moved to Affinity Medical Group. Since that time he has worked in a variety of leadership roles in Affinity Health System hospitals, clinics and administrative divisions.
