OSHKOSH, WI -- The Mercy Health Foundation Board of Trustees recently approved $39, 565 in new grants to meet the basic health care needs in the community and enhance services provided by Affinity Mercy Medical Center.
- $25,000 was awarded to the Tri County Community Dental Clinic to subsidize the cost of providing dental services to low income residents of southern Winnebago County.
- $13,500 was awarded to Affinity Health System marketing and public relations department for a Spanish version of ADAM patient education content for the Affinity Web site. The online health information contains 30,000 health and wellness articles written by medical specialists from across the country. These articles are updated on a regular basis, offering the most current health news available. Affinity Medical Group physicians can use this health information with Spanish-speaking patients to enhance the patient-physician communication process.
- $800 was awarded to the Affinity Memory Center to purchase informational booklets to help families in making decisions about living arrangements for loved ones with dementia. The Memory Center, located on the Affinity Mercy Medical Center campus in Oshkosh, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's diseas and other dementia.
- $265 was awarded to the Affinity Mercy Medical Center BirthPlace to purchase amenity items for women who are hospitalized to prevent premature birth. These stays can sometimes be lengthy, and the funds will be used for items to make patients more comfortable.
The Mercy Health Foundation, established in 1971, continues to fulfill its mission to "live out the healing ministry of Christ with special emphasis on those in need."
