CHILTON, Wis.-Calumet Medical Center will sponsor a Progressive Agriculture Safety Day TM at the Calumet County Fairgrounds in Chilton on Tuesday, Aug. 14. Children age 8 to 12 are invited to learn about a variety of safety topics including: tractor safety, hidden hazards, drug awareness, healthy lifestyles, severe weather safety and many others.
Professionals from Fox Valley Technical College, Affinity Health System and local public safety departments will lead the workshop stations. “The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day is a great opportunity for children of all backgrounds,” says Karin Wille, education and community service coordinator of Calumet Medical Center, “It’s not only educational, but the children also have a lot of fun.”
Space is limited to the first 150-paid registrations. The day will include lunch, snacks, a T-shirt, bandanna and take-home bag. Registration is $5 per child or $10 maximum per family. To request registration materials, please call Affinity NurseDirect at 1-800-362-9900.
This year, the St. Elizabeth Hospital Community Foundation is the main sponsor of the event, donating more than $4,000 for set-up cost, take-home bags and other expenses.
This is Calumet Medical Center’s sixth year hosting the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day. Progressive Farmer magazine founded the program in 1995, with the mission to provide the resources that local communities need to conduct one-day safety programs that are age-appropriate, hands-on, fun, and safe for children.
