Affinity Health System named one of the nation’s top 50 health systems

MENASHA, Wis. - Affinity Health System has been named one of the nation’s top 50 health systems based on clinical performance according to Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of health care.

Thomson Reuters’ 100 Top Hospitals: Health Systems Quality/Efficiency Study evaluated 252 health systems on measures of clinical quality and efficiency.  The study was released exclusively to Modern Healthcare and the top 50 represent the top 20 percent of the systems studied.

The Thomson Reuters study assessed all U.S. health systems with two or more short-term, general, non-federal hospitals. Researchers looked at five metrics that gauge clinical quality and efficiency: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay and adherence to clinical standards of care based on core measures published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

According to Thomson Reuters, the study sets national benchmarks for quality and efficiency and extends transparency regarding the performance of health care organizations from hospitals to health systems of health care systems’ and hospitals’ performance.
