OSHKOSH, Wis. - Peg Larson, longtime volunteer at Mercy Medical Center, has been honored with a Community Quarterback award from the Green Bay Packers. Larson, who will receive the honor at a dinner in the Lambeau Field Atrium on Jan. 22, 2009, has donated more than 4,300 hours of time at Mercy since she began volunteering in 1987 – equal to $68,704 of paid hours.
The Packers are awarding Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary a $2,000 grant in honor of Larson’s service.
“When I have asked for Peg’s help, there is no task too small or too large that she has ever turned down,” said Amy Brownson, manager of Volunteer Services at Mercy Medical Center. “Having volunteers like Peg to help support our patients, visitors, staff and community makes a big difference to a health care organization in providing efficient quality care at an affordable cost. We could not do what we do without the help of dedicated, loyal and supportive volunteers like Peg.”
Larson also volunteers for several other organizations in the Oshkosh area, including Oshkosh Youth Soccer Club, Oshkosh Teen Safe Rides and Unified Catholic Schools. At Mercy, she serves as Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary past president, as Mercy Health Foundation treasurer, as a clerk in the gift shop, as a receptionist at the Oakwood Offices entrance and as a guide for specialty tours.
“I’m honored to be recognized,” Larson said. “We have great organizations doing great work through the efforts of hundreds of dedicated volunteers.”
