Gynecologic cancers are cancer of the female reproductive organs. The most common forms include ovarian cancer, cervical cancer and uterine cancer. Early detection is important for a favorable outcome, but some gynecologic cancers show few or no symptoms, making early diagnosis difficult. Tests and procedures

Depending on the type of gynecological cancer, our physicians use several diagnostic tests:

  • physical exam
  • Pap test
  • ultrasound
  • abdominal CT scan
  • MRI
  • endometrial aspiration or biopsy
  • dilation and curettage (D and C)
Treatment

Treatment of gynecologic cancer varies depending on the stage of the cancer and may include:

  • surgery
  • radiation
  • chemotherapy
