Call It Quits
Tobacco Cessation Program
If you’re addicted to tobacco and want to quit, support is essential. Affinity Health System’s Call It Quits Tobacco Cessation Program offers phone counseling to people in Northeast Wisconsin who are ready to quit smoking and stop using tobacco. This program is FREE and open to anyone in the Fox Cities and Oshkosh who wants to quit smoking or using tobacco.
What happens when I call?
A Call It Quits counselor will ask you a series of questions and help you decide your next steps. The counselor will:
- assess your smoking or tobacco habit
- discuss your readiness to quit
- help you develop a personalized plan to quit
- send you a free educational packet to assist you in the process
- provide you with support.
Why telephone counseling?
- Privacy and confidentiality: Only you and the counselor will know you are trying to stop.
- Convenience: You can call from your home, work, car, or any other place.
Periodically, Affinity offers in-person classes at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton and Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh for people who want to quit smoking or using tobacco. Call Affinity NurseDirect at 1-800-362-9900 for class schedules.
Does it work?
Yes. Studies have shown using a formal program like Call It Quits doubles your chances for success, compared with trying to stop smoking or using tobacco on your own.
Nicotine Replacement Products
If you are a member of Network Health Plan's HMO or POS, you may be eligible for up to $400 in reimbursement for nicotine and non-nicotine replacement products to help you quit smoking.
