Biofeedback and Neuromuscular Training
Working with your body's signals to improve health and healing
Biofeedback and neuromuscular re-education helps you train yourself to use signals from your body to improve health and aid in healing through safe, non-invasive, non-drug treatment techniques.
The primary goal of biofeedback treatment is to teach patients how to control muscle response and other biological functions and continue the same level of control when not attached to the biofeedback equipment. We develop a personalized treatment plan for each patient’s unique needs. Objectives may include:
- improving awareness of stress responses
- learning injury prevention techniques
- learning to regulate body reactions and employ relaxation skills
- restoring muscle function and balance
- improving sleeping habits
- relieving symptoms
- increasing activity tolerance and functional ability
- improving coping skills
Services are provided by occupational therapists with advanced training in biofeedback treatment. Therapists train patients with computerized displays of an individual’s muscle function and stress response, such as in hand sweating and temperature.
