Therapies for relief and restoration from chronic pain
Most people cope with pain by taking medication and resting. In some cases these solutions are not enough.
The Outpatient Rehabilitation Services Pain Management program is for people with chronic, non-malignant pain. After thorough evaluations, we design a plan of care using therapies appropriate to each person’s unique needs.
Pain management therapies may include:
- physical conditioning
- upgrading flexibility and strength deficits
- biofeedback and neuromuscular re-education
- relaxation techniques
- upgrading activities of daily living
- medication management
- return to work preparation.
Goals of treatment include improving symptom management, increasing physical tolerance for activity, and if necessary, decreasing reliance on narcotic medication for pain relief.
The pain management team consists of experts in physiatry, psychology, nursing, case management, physical therapy and occupational therapy with specialization in biofeedback therapy.
