Continuing Medical Education

Affinity Health System offers continuing medical education (CME) programs for physicians and other medical care providers. In our view, offering continuing medical education to our health professionals is part of our mission to “live out the healing ministry of Christ by providing services that promote the health and well being of the communities we serve, especially the poor.” The goal is to enhance the quality of medical care we provide to our patients.

What We Offer

Affinity offers continuing medical education through lecture, mini-courses, specialty conferences and morbidity and mortality reviews. Topics include new concepts in pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment and reviews of current guidelines for medical practice.

Programs also provide a format for discussion of controversies in diagnosis and treatment.  “Hands-on” skills training is available as appropriate (e.g., ALS, ACLS, BLS, PALS, NALS, NRP, AND ATLS).

Topics come from a range of sources: quality assurance reviews, process improvement activities, Affinity Health System strategic or quality plans and medical staff needs assessments. Goals include correcting areas that need improvement, maintaining basic skills and relaying new developments in patient care. Staff members earn CME credits to meet mandated educational requirements.
