Physician Wellness
The medical profession can be demanding. Often physicians and mid-level providers work long hours, with many patients and staff depending on them. Affinity Health System recognizes the impact a medical career can have on a provider’s lifestyle and family. That’s why we’ve developed a Clinician Health and Wellness program to address the physical, emotional and social needs of these very busy professionals. From peer-coach opportunities to wellness symposiums, a quarterly newsletter, counseling and more, Affinity is committed to providing resources to help you achieve a balanced life.
Mission
The mission of Clinician Wellness at Affinity Health System is to promote clinician well-being, prevent impairment from any cause and to assist providers who are impaired, or at risk of impairment, to return to the full, active, productive and satisfying practice of medicine, with no risk of patient harm.
Vision
The vision of Clinician Wellness at Affinity Health System is excellent patient care, delivered in a timely and patient-centered manner, by well-adjusted, content clinicians who are living balanced lives. Well-adjusted clinicians will be characterized in all of their interactions with patients, colleagues and support staff by the Affinity Health System values of integrity, service, teamwork, justice, creativity and stewardship. Our clinicians will strive to fulfill our mission of living out the healing ministry of Christ by providing services that promote the health and well being of the communities we serve, especially the poor.
Referrals
The Clinician Health and Wellness Committee is available to assist when a clinician needs emotional or behavioral support. Referring a colleague for a wellness evaluation is sometimes a difficult decision, but it can be a life-changing event for a struggling, distressed clinician. Any referral is investigated anonymously, and in total confidence. Referrals are not reported to the clinician governance structure, unless mandated by patient safety concerns.
Referrals to the Clinician Health and Wellness program may be made by any individual, in complete confidence, regarding any provider. Providers may also self-refer. To make a referral, contact:
